Success is a Journey, not a Destination
My name is Aaron Young and I’ve been involved and interested in the self-improvement niche for about 20 years. I’ve always wondered what separted super successful people from unsuccessful or average people. And I’m not only talking about financial success here, I’m talking about success in every facet of someone’s life. Success in relationships, business and professional, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and financial. What separates those super charismatic people everyone wants to be around from all the “average” people. Or those type of people who seem to always get the promotion over everyone else, or can start a business and make it look easy. Or the people who always seem to be in tip-top physical shape and stay that way for most of their lives. And finally, those people who seem to be smart, witty, charismatic and have it all together both mentally and emotionally.
After many years of struggling and trying to make a living in the sales industry, nothing ever really happened for me. I mean, I never achieved the kind of success I was really after. I knew of other people who were very successful and making much more money than I was and I wanted to be in that league of “super salesmen.” I would always ask myself what it was that separated greatness from mediocrity, and I decided that I must discover the answer. It was at this point in my life that I started on what I call an “Achievement Quest.” I guess you could compare it to a “Vision Quest” the Native American’s used to participate in, which was a turning point in life to find oneself and the intended spiritual and life direction they would take. In my case, ”Achievement Quest” is not so much a turning point, but a journey to discover how to achieve my goals and live my dreams and discover the secret of success in life.
As I began my journey some 20 years ago, I started reading every self-improvement book I could get my hands on. I also read books on successful people so that I could get inside their minds and discover how they think. And in the last 20 years, I have amassed 600-700 books and probably that many more ebooks, and also attended many workshops and seminars. And have I arrived at success after all these years? Yes….and no. I don’t really ever want to “arrive” at success. The excitement is in the journey….the chase. I am successful in many ways. I have a wonderful family with four beautiful children and a beautiful wife. I have a successful business and am now starting another one. I have many friends and a great spiritual life. But I still want more. And not because I’m greedy, but because I believe you have to always be in hot pursuit of some worthy goal in life. That is what gives life meaning. It is what drives us and makes us happy human beings.
In all the reading and studying I have done, you may be asking yourself if I ever discovered the secret to success? I did and I can sum it up in six words. It is the common theme running through every self help book I ever read and can also be found in the Bible. And those six words are: “We become what we think about.” The Bible says it like this: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
If selp-improvement is a topic that interests you and you would like to participate with like-minded people, then I encourage you to join me here at Achievement Quest. Together we can learn how to achieve goals, live our dreams, conquer the world, and live life to the fullest.
